In the ever-moving world of remakes, reboots, rejigs, reimaginings and whatever other buzz words the ‘powers that be’ like to throw around, now comes word that the Misfits reboot is finally moving forward.

If you remember back, the Freeform network were looking at a reboot of this much-loved British comedy-drama series towards the end of last year. Now, as per Deadline, Freeform has put in a pilot order for the series.

At this point in time, iZombie and Veronica Mars’ Diane Ruggiero-Wright is involved as a writer and producer, with a cast already assembled featuring Sirens’ Ashleigh LaThrop, Rebel’s Tre Hall, Orphan Black’s Allie MacDonald, and Nurse Jackie’s Jake Cannavale. In addition to this, Grey’s Anatomy’s Victoria Mahoney will direct the pilot.

If the Misfits reboot is indeed picked up for a full season order, the original show’s creator, Howard Overman, will be brought in to serve as an executive producer.

The original Misfits starred the likes of Antonia Thomas, Iwan Rheon, Robert Sheehan, Lauren Socha, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and the ever-great Joseph Gilgun. Plot-wise, the E4 series centred on a group of young people who end up developing supernatural powers due to a freak electrical storm.

As ever, expect more on all of this as it develops.
