With WORLD WAR Z hitting the big screen back in 2013, the initial plan was for several films to follow Marc Forster’s movie. All’s been a little quiet on that front recently, but now screenwriter Steven Knight has been giving a slight update of sorts on what we can expect from the sequel to the 2013 flick.

Speaking to Indiewire, Knight, who has written the treatment for the WORLD WAR Z sequel, revealed his thoughts on penning the tale. “I thought, ‘Why not? What fun,’” he said, before adding, “It’s not quite like the other, we’re starting with a clean slate. When they’ve signed off, we’re on.”

A clean slate? Given the troubles of the first film (as in the whole third act was reworked), it’ll be interesting to see how clean the slate is, and also whether the story will pick things up with the star of the original, Brad Pitt.

The latest on when we might see the WORLD WAR Z sequel is that the film is expected to go into production in October of this year, with a release at some point in the second half of 2016.
