It’s fair to say, there’s pretty much nobody in the entertainment industry who has their fingers in quite as many pies as Guillermo del Toro. Two such projects are PACIFIC RIM 2 and the long-planned JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK. In a recent interview with Collider, del Toro has been discussing where things are at with a PACIFIC RIM sequel, whilst Forbes has some news on JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK.

On the specifics of PACIFIC RIM 2, he revealed, “It’s a few years after the first one. It’s not an immediate follow-up. It is the world having been freed of Kaiju, what happens to the world after – what happens to the Jaeger technology once the Kaiju are not a threat. It’s quite a jump.”

As well as Charlie Day and Burn Gorman returning, del Toro added that science will play a large role in the sequel. “You’re gonna get a lot of that ,” he said, “but the Kaijus are very different and you’re gonna see a very different type of the robots I think. It’s gonna be quite a different adventure.”

On JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK, it’s being reported by Forbes that the script has now been finished for the long-discussed project. Warner Brothers will give the story a look-over before deciding how to move forward with the film. The film will focus on the likes of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Shade, and it’s believed that it will initially start off as something separate from the main DC Cinematic Universe.

In terms of a timescale on this films, del Toro has CRIMSON PEAK being released in October, then he has plans to work on a small film before heading back to the world of PACIFIC RIM.

As ever, expect to hear more on both of this projects as they develop.
