It’s little surprise, in a world where seminal comic series have been cut up and cannibalised for the big screen, that FABLES was next on the list. The initial announcement was made as early as 2013, where HARRY POTTER producer David Heyman was overseeing the project, with Nikolaj Arcel on directorial duties.

Despite the slowdown in details over the last few years, there’s still plenty of steam. Arcel is still attached as director, and, speaking to Comic Book Resources, Heyman revealed, “Jane Goldman is working on a draft as we speak.” Goldman, of course, co-wrote the screenplays behind KICK-ASS and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, as well as the forthcoming KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE. It’s safe to say that when it comes to comics, she knows her stuff.

Heyman went on to say that Arcel himself had produced a draft, and that “now he’s supervising Jane, who’s doing a draft. Hopefully that’ll come in and we’ll be able to move to the next stage.”

We’ll bring you more on the anticipated adaption of Vertigo’s beloved fairy tale romp as and when it develops.
