In some news that we kind of already knew, Ben Affleck has confirmed that the upcoming solo outing for the Caped Crusader will be titled simply The Batman.

For months now, we’ve been hearing constant stories about how The Batman was the current working title for the film, and now Affleck has confirmed that, telling the AP, “The movie I think is gonna be called The Batman. At least that’s what we’re going with now. I might change it. I think that’s about it, that’s all I got. We’re working on the script, the script is going well. I’m really excited about it. I assure you when anything develops you’ll hear about it.”

Affleck is currently writing the script The Batman with DC’s Geoff Johns, a man who is a huge fan favourite for his work on comic book tales such as Green Lantern: Rebirth, Infinite Crisis, Blackest Night, and Flashpoint. Back in July, Johns was promoted to President of DC Entertainment; a move which will now see him oversee Warner Brothers’ DC Extended Universe.

All that we know on The Batman at this stage is that Affleck’s World’s Greatest Detective will be joined by Jeremy Irons’ Alfred and J.K. Simmons’ Jim Gordon as he goes up against the threat of master assassin Deathstroke, to be played by Joe Manganiello.

The Batman has yet to be given a release date, but Ben Affleck will also be directing the film as well as starring in it and penning the script. Before that, Affleck’s Dark Knight will be a part of Zack Snyder’s Justice League when that hits screens in November 2017.
