Whilst last week saw Johnny Depp revealed to be Universal’s Invisible Man, the studio’s mystery monster movie has been delayed.

Universal is set to relaunch their cinematic monster realm in a big way over the next few years, starting with Alex Kurtzman’s redo of The Mummy in June 2017; a film that will see Tom Cruise going up against Sofia Boutella’s Mummy. Following that was a mystery monster effort that was set for March 30th, 2018, but that project has now been delayed a little. Instead of the March release, this mystery project will arrive a few weeks later on April 13th, 2018.

Whilst unconfirmed at this stage, there’s plenty of speculation that this mystery film will actually be the Depp-starring redo of The Invisible Man. Elsewhere in the monster world, Prisoners’ Aaron Guzikowski is writing a reboot of The Wolfman and Fargo’s Noah Hawley is penning another unknown effort.

The current plan is to bring the likes of Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein’s monster, etc all back to the big screen as part of a shared realm. In fact, there’s even talks of Angelina Jolie starring in and directing a new take on The Bride of Frankenstein
