With Universal currently working on their new shared monster universe, it’s being reported that the studio is eyeing Dwayne Johnson to headline their upcoming Wolfman redo.

Deadline reports that the Fast & Furious and G.I. Joe star is wanted as the titular Wolfman in a remake that is currently being penned by Prisoners’ Aaron Guzikowski. A deal is yet to be concluded, but Universal are certainly keen on signing up the former WWE World Champion.

This new Universal monster realm will kick off with Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy on June 9th, 2017, with that film featuring Tom Cruise tackling Sofia Boutella’s monster. Following that, another entry in the Universal monster world is booked in for April 13th, 2018 and another for February 15th, 2019.

All that’s known about the other films that are in the works is that Fargo executive producer Noah Hawley is writing one of them, whilst Johnny Depp is reportedly going to be starring in a new take on The Invisible Man. Another story claims that Universal are desperate for Angelina Jolie to star in and direct a new Bride of Frankenstein movie.

Johnson is yet to sign on as the Wolfman, but expect more on this as and when it develops.
