The gothic kitsch and melodrama of 2003’s UNDERWORLD worked for some, but not for others. While pitting werewolves (pedantically labelled lycans) against a vampire aristocracy was an interesting concept, it largely failed to deliver more than Victorian-cum-fetish gear outfits and lashings of gore. While it spawned a few unremarkable sequels, and an interesting-enough prequel, UNDERWORLD is set for the reboot treatment.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Lakeshore Entertainment is gaining momentum with its reboot, hiring Cory Goodman (who also wrote 2011’s PRIEST) to pen the script, with Lakeshore’s own Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi producing.

Did this franchise even need rebooting? Let us know and, as always, more details as we hear them.
