In some bad news for Underworld fans, the next entry in the series has been pushed back to 2017.

Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have announced that Underworld: Blood Wars, originally slated for an October 14th, 2016 release, will now be arriving on January 3rd, 2017. This new release date sees the film open against Amityville: The Awakening and the Tom Cruise thriller Mena.

The cast for Blood Wars is made up of the returning Kate Beckinsale as Selene, Theo James as David, Tobias Menzies as a new Lycan leader, Lara Pulver as an ambitious Vampire, Charles Dance as Vampire elder Thomas, and unknown roles for James Faulkner, Peter Andersson, Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James and Daisy Head.

This fifth entry in the Underworld series is directed by Anna Foerster, best known for her cinematography work on films such as Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow.
