While Henry Cavill’s Big Blue Boy Scout may sadly be brooding in a sea of dourness on the big screen, the latest small screen Superman impressed us all when he debuted in the early goings of Supergirl’s second season. And now comes word that Melissa Benoist’s Kara Zor-El will be joined by Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel once again when her upcoming season finale rolls around next month.

As per E!, Hoechlin’s Superman will be present and accounted for in the Season 2 finale of The CW’s Supergirl, which is set to air in the US on May 22nd, with a UK airing to follow shortly after.

We’ve got to admit, when the first images were revealed of Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin decked out in his Super-garb, well, we were a little underwhelmed and didn’t have much hope for this latest live-action Supes to be up to much. How wrong could we be, for Hoechlin’s Superman is absolutely pitch-perfect for what you’d expect from the Last Son of Krypton. Awe-inspiring yet approachable, warm yet firm, sincere, genuine, and a true symbol of hope, Supergirl’s take on Superman was quickly embraced by longtime fans of the Man of Steel, with Hoechlin’s Supes seen by many as the best take on the character since Christopher Reeve donned the iconic tights and cape all those years ago.

With Supergirl already confirmed for a third season, we can only hope that Kara’s famed cousin will continue to nip in for the odd visit or two as the Girl of Steel continues her ongoing adventures.
