Following sun-drenched shots and a few MSN Messenger conversations during its first season, it was recently revealed that Superman was to actually appear ‘proper’ in Season 2 of Supergirl. Well now the show has found its Man of Steel.

The CW, the new network home of the Melissa Benoist-starrer, has announced that Tyler Hoechlin has landed the role of the Last Son of Krypton. In amongst the actor’s credits are the likes of Everybody Wants Some, Teen Wolf, Road to Perdition and Solstice. It’s been confirmed that Supes will be appearing in two episodes of Supergirl’s second season, with more appearances an option. This also, of course, means that Hoechlin will be a Superman that, following Supergirl’s move from CBS to The CW, exists in the same universe as Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow, Grant Gustin’s Flash, and the rest of The CW’s DC heroes and villains.

On this news, producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Greg and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

Supergirl returns in the second half of the year.
