Anyone with access to BBC Radio 4 is spoiled this week with two series to catch. The afternoon drama slot (14:15 – 15:00) is given over to five-part series Pilgrim by Sebastian Baczkiewicz. There are evil magicians, murders, betrayals, and the King of the Greyfolk to contend with before the end. The series runs Monday to Friday.

If you prefer your radio later in the day, the Book at Bedtime this week is We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson, abridged by Jeremy Osborne and read by Bryony Hannah. This is a dark story of the grisly fates that meet the Blackwood family. The original novel is recommended by Neil Gaiman, and Shirley Jackson’s work is said to have influenced Stephen King and Nigel Kneale.

Don’t despair if you haven’t noticed these in the schedule as both will be available on iPlayer Radio.
