The Stephen King adaptation of UNDER THE DOME has had audio from a President Obama speech cut. The speech in question was given following the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy, and deemed inappropriate. CBS – the network that shall broadcast UNDER THE DOME in the US – gave an official statement with this explanation, “The audio of the President in the final scene will change. The scene cleared broadcast standards, but both Amblin TV and CBS had concerns about using actual audio in this specific fictional context.”

Premiering June 24 in the US, UNDER THE DOME follows the residents of a small town that becomes isolated from the outside world by an invisible barrier. The Obama audio clip was originally incorporated into fictional news reports at the end of the episode.

There is currently no date announced for UNDER THE DOME’s UK air date, but stay tuned for details…
