With Jesse L. Martin recently cast as Detective West in The CW’s THE FLASH, Deadline is now reporting that two long-time DC villains have been added to the show’s ranks. The two characters in question are Central City Police Detective Eddie Thawne and S.T.A.R. Labs bioengineer Caitlin Snow. Playing Thawne we will have THE VAMPIRE DIARIES’ Rick Gosnett, whilst PIRANHA 3DD and the FRIDAY THE 13th remakes’ Danielle Panabaker will be playing Snow.

To fans of The Flash and DC comic books, these two names should be ringing bells. Eddie Thawne will be the show’s take on Eobard Thawne, who is long-time Flash villain Professor Zoom, aka Reverse-Flash. Having been brought back into the modern books by Geoff Johns, Zoom is a big-time player in the DC world who is responsible for the death of Barry Allen’s mother. Grant Gustin’s Barry alluded to this in his recent appearances in ARROW, and it appears that his main mission in his solo series will be to find out who really killed his mother, meaning Eddie Thawne should be a big part of THE FLASH.

As for Caitlin Snow, she is the latest incarnation of Killer Frost. Initially at odds with H.I.V.E. – who were also referenced earlier in ARROW’s Season 2 – she is a supervillain that has the power to manipulate ice and cold. Just got home from the shops and your beers are quite cold enough for you yet? Killer Frost is your gal.

THE FLASH is currently being developed by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, with DC’s Geoff Johns, who has worked with The Flash character for years now, penning the pilot, which will be directed by David Nutter.
