Last November we reported the startling news that plans were afoot for an American reboot of the fondly-remembered 1970s ITV children’s sci-fi hit The Tomorrow People – and we promised to keep you informed if and when the project started gathering any momentum. Well, looks like the wheels are well and truly in motion for the return of TV’s favourite homo superiors as producer Greg Berlanti, one of the brains behind the popular Arrow series currently screening on both sides of the Atlantic, has received an order from the CW Network for a pilot Tomorrow People episode. The script will be written by Phil Klemmer whose previous credits include quirky fantasy spy drama Chuck which ended its fifth and final season last year, and the short-lived J.J. Abrams action series Undercovers in 2010. Of course pilot episodes are ten-a-penny Stateside so there’s still a chance this revival may never see the light of day but this is clearly a positive development and with Syfy’s Alphas recently cancelled there’s certainly a vacancy for a new TV show featuring a bunch of genetically-superior teens and the CW Network will still be keen to fill the void left by the end of their long-running young Superman hit, Smallville, in 2011.
