He portrayed a classical villain in SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED, and now he’ll be playing a contemporary villain in THE TOMORROW PEOPLE. So he must be English right, as all the world knows that the English make the best villain’s. And so it is that English actor Simon Merrells will play a duplicitous and powerful character with influence over Mark Pellegrino’s Jedikiah in the rebooted ‘70s children’s science-fiction series.
To US audiences Merrells will be most familiar as Crassus from the Starz series SPARTACUS: WAR OF THE DAMNED. Perhaps calling Crassus a villain isn’t strictly accurate, as he was a man who believed that what he did was for the greater good of Rome. Anyway, his UK credits include FAMILY AFFAIRS and LONDON’S BURNING.
Much like the original ITV series THE TOMORROW PEOPLE – starring Robbie Amell and Luke Mitchell – follows a team of young people with special abilities who represent the next stage of human evolution.
THE TOMORROW PEOPLE airs in the US October 9th, and in the UK on Channel 4 shortly after.
