Big Finish has announced that it will be releasing a boxset of Omega Factor stories which will be available in 2015.

Originally shown on the BBC in 1979, The Omega Factor was a supernatural drama created by Jack Gerson and starring James Hazeldine as Tom Crane, Louise Jameson as Anne Reynolds with John Carlisle as Roy Martindale. These three formed a secret government agency, Department 7, investigating the paranormal and running into the sinister Drexel and an organisation known as Omega.

With the benefit of history this can be very much seen as a British X-Files and shares many of the same elements. The show ran for one season of 10 episodes and has never been repeated. It is available on DVD.

The stories will be set in 2015 with Department 7 having been silent for 30 years. The lead figure will be Adam the son of the late Tom Crane. Louise Jameson will reprise her role as Anne Reynolds and Jack Gerson’s daughter Natasha also returns as the shadowy Morag. Big Finish will also release an audiobook of Jack Gerson’s original Omega Factor novel read by Louise Jameson. This will be available in October 2014.
