The Hollywood Reporter has word that The CW has now shelved plans for the Wonder Woman TV series, AMAZON.

Given the success of SMALLVILLE and ARROW, the network has been trying for several years to get a Diana-centric show off the ground. This time out, they had GREY’S ANATOMY’s Allen Heinberg and HEROES’ Eli Coleite working on the pilot episode’s story. Like 2011’s Adrianne Palicki-starring WONDER WOMAN, this latest effort is now a non-starter, although at least Palicki’s outing managed to make it to pilot.

The CW’s President, Mark Pedowitz, told THR, “We did not go forward with it. “ Asked on whether things may change in the future, he added, “It all depends on the script. We were very careful with ARROW, and we’re being very careful with FLASH. These are iconic characters, so we’re going to be very careful with WONDER WOMAN. You only get one shot before you get bit.”

One would have to think, the confirmation of a cinematic Wonder Woman appearance likely didn’t help the failed show’s chances. On that front, you can expect to see Gal Gadot cracking the lasso on 17th July, 2015.
