With the current second season of The CW’s ARROW generating rave reviews from all quarters, it comes as no surprise to hear that the network has decided to renew the show for a third season.

In an official release, President Mark Pedowitz said, “This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series THE ORIGINALS paired with SUPERNATURAL, giving us our best Tuesday night in years. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with ARROW continuing to gain among young men, and REIGN growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”

Season 2 has seen such development from its characters and the show in general, and fans have been treated to appearances from familiar DC faces such as Nyssa Al Ghul, Brother Blood, Cyrus Gold, Dr. Ivo, Black Canary, Dollmaker, Bronze Tiger, Amanda Waller and more, with a lot more set to come.

Of course, we can’t mention Season 2 of ARROW without mentioning the appearance of Barry Allen. Grant Gustin’s Barry has gone on to get his own spin-off show, and he was also the focus of this season’s highest rated episode, THE SCIENTIST.

ARROW is currently on a brief hiatus in the US due to the Winter Olympics, but Season 2 returns to UK screens on 20th February at 8pm on Sky1.
