A whole host of new names have emerged to
add to your personal DOCTOR WHO Series 8 wall chart, as revealed in the latest Doctor Who Magazine.
Frequent Moffat collaborator Mark Gatiss
will be scripting episode 3, while Gareth Roberts will return for episode 6.
Newcomer Paul Murphy will direct both.
Gatiss has written for every series since
Steven Moffat took over as showrunner, so it’s no surprise to see his name yet
again in the roster. Let’s hope his episode is as good as last year’s (cue OTT
Yorkshire accent) The Crimson Horror.
Roberts, meanwhile, has written ‘comedy’ episodes in the past, such as The
Lodger
and 2011’s Closing Time, the last script he penned for the show.
But wait, there’s more! Gatiss’ episode
will guest star
Tom Riley (star of
Da Vinci’s Demons), Trevor
Cooper
(who appeared in 1985’s Who serial Revelation of the Daleks), Ian Hallard (who you may have
seen in An Adventure In Space & Time) and Game of Thrones Roger Ashton-Griffiths. Gareth
Roberts’ story, meanwhile, will star Nigel Betts (who’s been in, err… Emmerdale), and Jimmy Vee, who’s played a number of
aliens in previous Who episodes
.
It will probably not star James Corden – which will be a source of either
delight or anguish to all fans.

Of course, they’ll both also star Peter
Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor and Jenna Coleman’s Clara. The series, Capaldi’s first
since Matt Smith hung up the bow tie, is expected to start in the autumn.
