’70s sci-fi show SPACE: 1999 is the latest property to be eyed up for the remake treatment, with ITV Studios America and HDFilms announcing that a new take on the series – titled SPACE: 2099* – is now in the development stage.

Jace Hall, HDFilms president, was also responsible for the short-lived V reboot a few years back, and is looking to bring Gerry Anderson’s fondly remembered show back to screens for a 21st Century audience. Hope he has more success this time around.

No network is in place as on yet, so consider this far from a done deal, but as always we’ll keep you in the loop…

*Erm, considering how fast SPACE: 1999 dated, shouldn’t these guys play it safe and chuck another decade or two on there? As it stands this only gives us 87 years to get ourselves all moonbased-up, otherwise this is going to look bobbins all over again. NASA better get a wriggle on!
