Could love be in the air at 221B Baker Street? It could be if SHERLOCK bosses Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss are to be believed as they recently hinted that a wedding could take place in the new series due to air later this year or early 2014, and with the confirmation that Martin Freeman’s wife Amanda Abbington has joined the cast speculation will no doubt be rife. Could she have been cast as John Watson’s future wife Mary Morstan?

Producer Sue Vertue has also tweeted a photo of a wedding breakfast place setting marked “Sherlock Holmes” with the caption: “Lovely day for a wedding #sherlock.”

Episode two of the new season, titled THE SIGN OF THREE, began filming yesterday so the tweet suggests that it’s entirely plausible that a wedding could take place in this episode.
