Red Dwarf X

The Boys from the Dwarf – Red Dwarf, that is – are back on our screens soon with six new episodes commissioned and made especially for lad’s non-terrestrial channel Dave. Red Dwarf X, filmed across December 2011 – January 2012, has come about because of the ratings (if not critical) success of the Red Dwarf: Back to Earth mini-series (officially recognised as the ninth series of the show) on the channel in 2009. The series has been written by series co-creator Doug Naylor and the show’s original core cast – Chris Barrie as  Rimmer, Craig Charles as Dave Lister and Danny John-Jules as The Cat, along with Robert Llewellyn as fussy service mechanoid Kryten (who joined the regular cast in series 3) – are back for the new six-episode run. Dave (the channel, not Lister) has now formally revealed the titles of the individual episodes in the new series as follows:

1 – Trojan

2 – Fathers and Suns

3 – Lemons

4 – Entanglement

5 – Dear Dave

6 – The Beginning

Fans are already speculating that the final episode will constitute a series finale as the very first episode of the show, screened on BBC2 back in 1988, was entitled ‘The End’ – however Naylor has recently dropped broad hints than a further series may be on the cards for 2013.

Red Dwarf X is expected to arrive on Dave in October.
