Genre programming continues to be on the increase, with the news that Terry Moore’s award-winning horror comic RACHEL RISING will be developed into a series by the TV arm of Alcon Entertainment. Moore himself has been brought on to executive produce (which is very encouraging indeed) and the Alcon team is headed by producers who have worked on such fan favourite properties such as THE WALKING DEAD, HELLBOY and WATCHMEN.

Since it’s so early on in the development stage, there’s no writers or directors on board as yet, let alone actors, but we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground regarding its progress. Moore is a writer of immense caliber, crafting stories that skew convention in their approach to their genre – be it romance in STRANGERS IN PARADISE, sci-fi in ECHO, or horror in RACHEL RISING – so this has great potential.

For those unfamiliar with Moore’s ongoing series, here’s the original synopsis:

Rachel wakes up at sunrise on a shallow grave in the woods and discovers the freshly murdered body in the dirt is her own. With events of the previous night a blur, Rachel seeks out her boyfriend Phillip. But Phillip has a new girl now and Rachel is beginning to suspect she rose from the grave for a reason… revenge!

Now, if this proves a hit, maybe we can finally get to see Katchoo and co. on our screens!
