Preacher TV News

One of the biggest cult comic books out there, PREACHER, is about to be developed for TV over at AMC – at least that’s the word from Badass Digest. The same report claims that a pilot has already been ordered and that Seth Rogen is in fact involved. It’s not the first time that such a story has appeared, with HBO previously shelving a planned pilot at the last minute.

The story of PREACHER, created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is that of a down-and-out Texas preacher that is taken over by Genesis; a supernatural entity that is the result of an angel and a demon coming together. With ridiculous powers, said preacher teams up with a vast array of slightly odd characters, including a heavy-drinking Irish vampire, and sets off across America in search of God. Their beef with God? That would be that he’s seemingly abandoned his duties up in heaven, and this preacher holds him personally accountable for the atrocities on earth.

As for Rogen’s involvement, he recently took to Twitter, saying, “Looks like about seven years of hard work are about to pay off. I may get to bring one of my favourite stories ever to life… Arseface. John Wayne, The Saint of Killers.”

It just so happens, Arseface, John Wayne, and Saint of Killers are all predominant characters in the PREACHER books.

Expect more on this as it develops.
