Starburst Magazine can exclusively reveal that cult favourite Doctor Who villain Beep The Meep is to make a triumphant return to the Doctor Who franchise. We have received evidence that a toy version of the evil fuzzball is currently in development. As toys tend to be made to tie-in to the TV series, it’s a real possibility that this Tom Baker Era monster may be joining Peter Capaldi in the new series!

The photos below are from a ‘product prototype’ session. As part of the manufacture process, rough mock ups of potential products are made up to assess the viability and marketability of potential new toys. Many of these don’t make it to the toy shelves; back in 2012 a wrist mounted Personal Time Travel Device toy made it as far as the London Toy Fair but never made it into mass-production. However, Doctor Who themed plushies are very popular so it seems likely that this horrible little monster will soon become the must-buy cuddly toy of the year…

Meep the Beep prototype.

Beep The Meep first appeared in the comic strip Doctor Who and The Star Beast back in 1980 as part of Doctor Who Weekly’s regular offering of sequential art and has never been on the TV show.  Beep is a cute-looking fuzzball but he carries a terrible secret: he’s actually an intergalactic dictator and an all-round bad creature. He literally gets away with murder on account of how adorable he looks.

The evil furby look-a-like has been in a handful of other Who related media since his first appearance, including the Big Finish audio drama The Ratings War. Beep was voiced by the incredibly talented Toby Longworth in that particular story and we have our fingers crossed that if the insane little teddy bear does make a comeback then Toby will get to put his considerable vocal talents to the benefit of all Meep-Kind.
