TWIN PEAKS has always been an oddball, not just in content but in reception and its legacy. Despite a DVD release in the mid-noughties, availability on Netflix and an upcoming Blu-ray release, the show remains with one proverbial foot in the underground. For every fan there are three who’ve never seen the story of Laura Palma, Agent Cooper and, of course, Bob. Though part of its infamy is due in no small part to the sheer weirdness of the show it has endured, and deserves the Blu-ray treatment.

Despite repeatedly denying any future additions to the TWIN PEAKS canon, co-creator David Lynch commented on the Blu-ray collection, stating that alongside the pilot episode and both series, there will also be ‘some special things that haven’t been seen before.’ Though there was no mention of the divisive film FIRE WALK WITH ME, it’s believed that the movie and its long-missing deleted scenes are to be included in the set. Up until now rights issues have prevented a comprehensive collection.

There can be too much of a good thing and any additions to TWIN PEAKS is likely to push the beloved, albeit flawed, show over the line.

The Blu-ray release is scheduled for March 24th in the US.
