E4 have released the first publicity photograph (above) of the new cast for the fourth series of their popular Community Service superhero series Misfits, created by Howard Overman.

Following the departure of three of the remaining original cast members – Iwan Rheon’s Simon and Antonia Thomas’s Alisha were written out at the end of the third series and Lauren Socha’s Kelly will not be returning for the fourth (following a highly-publicised public order-related court appearance earlier this year) – Nathan Stewart-Jarret’s moody Curtis remains the only survivor from the show’s first year. Series four sees Joseph Gilgun’s sleazy Rudy, who replaced Robert Sheehan’s Nathan at the beginning of the third series, returning to the show along with Matthew McNulty who plays shady super-power-dealer Seth.

The two new ‘misfits’ to join the crew are Karla Crome as “tough cookie” Jess and Nathan McMullen as “childlike” Finn who are pictured alongside Stewart-Jarrett and Gilgun during the filming of the new series. With the last series consistently achieving the show’s highest ratings yet it’ll be interesting to see if the series’ audience will stick with Misfits as it undergoes its most dramatic cast upheaval.

Misfits is expected to return to E4 in October.
