It’s not much but it’ll help tide hungry Doctor Who fans over until… well, this Friday, in fact. We’re still six weeks away from the traditional Christmas night Doctor Who special (which sees the proper introduction – sort of – of the Doctor’s new companion played by Jenna-Louise Coleman who, older fans will remember, appeared briefly in this year‘s ‘Asylum of the Daleks‘ episode) but this year’s BBC TV Children in Need telethon (BBC1, 16th November from 7.30pm) will not only see the first broadcast of the official full-length trailer for the festive special but also a specially-filmed brief ‘prelude’ to the episode. The BBC have helpfully released a teaser image which shows current Doctor, Matt Smith, is his moody, darker new costume. Some of us here at Starburst Magazine are hoping that we’re about to see a more restrained and less excitable portrayal of the Time Lord from Smith in both the Christmas special and the eight remaining episodes of the seventh season which are due to be broadcast next year. Friday’s teaser may provide an indication of what’s in store…
