With the fantastic Season 2 of ARROW now done and dusted, news of some new characters for the show’s third season is starting to come out. TVLine has managed to get hold of some character breakdowns that have been released for casting calls; character breakdowns that seem to allude to some familiar DC names.

First up is a character called Daniel. Now, the name is merely a placeholder so as to not give away the character’s actual name just yet. Daniel is described as “20 something gent – a major recurring character for Season 3 – is a handsome, enigmatic and highly intelligent entrepreneur developing groundbreaking technology. (Picture a business magnate in Ryan Gosling’s body.) Thought exuding charm and confidence in public, he privately harbors a tragic past that will drive him to become a tech-powered superhero. Watch for this formidable fella to be a love interest for Felicity and a rival of Oliver’s – both personally and professionally.”

Seeing as how Kord Industries has been referenced previously in the show, there’s a very good chance that “Daniel” will actually be Ted Kord, aka The Blue Beetle. Often a member of the Justice League, Kord uses a whole host of toys and gadgets to fight the bad guys.

As well as “Daniel”, another new addition is, at this stage, called Seth. Again, this name is merely a placeholder for now. The description of Seth reads as “A well-educated criminal with grand ambitions and a knack for chemistry, this potentially recurring character gains power over his enemies by exposing them to a drug that drains their willpower. Oh, and he is very much a physical match for The Arrow.”

The current rumours on just who “Seth” is speculate that the character will actually be Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow. We’re not totally buying that rumour, though, as Crane is definitely not somebody who can be described as a physical match for the Emerald Archer.

As well as the aforementioned pair of new characters, Season 3 will also introduce us to Toshi and Akiko. It’s believed that this duo will appear in the flashback moments when the show returns. Toshi is described as “Oliver’s teacher and handler, and eventually a friend. A well-trained operative, skilled in weaponry, combat and intelligence gathering, he is also a devoted father and husband.” The character of Akiko is broken down as “Toshi’s wife is another of Oliver’s Hong Kong caretakers, and is herself highly skilled in martial arts.”

ARROW will return later this year, whilst Season 2 hits DVD and Blu-ray on 16th September.
