And Izzard’s not remotely impressed.

While no official word has yet to be issued by NBC, it appears that the much talked about MUNSTERS reimagining from Bryan Fuller will not be going to series. But with the pilot costing $10m, the network are in talks to make use of it yet, and are mulling the idea of either using it as a one-off Halloween special (either this year or next), or shooting some additional footage and releasing it as a straight-to-DVD movie, the latter option being quite common practice, but they rarely work as a satisfying narrative. Why would they.

It has now been confirmed that the Pilot episode will air on NBC in the States October 26th as a one-off special event timed for Halloween. Expect it to eek its way to DVD shortly after.

Disagreements between NBC, producer Brian Singer and Fuller are cited as to why the product was junked, and ranged from fallouts over visual style, tone, and the concept itself.

Shame. We were just about warming to the idea.

Fuller doesn’t have time to get mopey though, as he’s busy running HANNIBAL, which has its first full season run confirmed already.
