Following on from yesterday’s S.H.I.E.L.D. intel courtesy of Joss Whedon himself, comes an essential piece of plot information from ABC President Paul Lee…

Last October the casting of Clark Gregg (who’s returning as Agent Coulson) was announced, and since then we’ve all been pondering just where in the Marvel Movieverse timeline the show will take place. Given that Coulson croaked in The Avengers, it looked highly probable that S.H.I.E.L.D. would be set pre-Chitauri invasion. Not so!

“…the story takes place after the battle for New York,” Lee told IGN recently.

Any of you reading that noticed something suspect about Coulson’s “death” should give yourselves a hearty pat on the back! Unless he turns out to be a clone. Or Phil’s twin brother. Robot? Hologram? Force Ghost? Maybe he’ll just appear in flashbacks. Damn it, we’re right back to square one. Guess we’ll just have to wait until September to find out for sure.
