In news so unsurprising that it wasn’t even announced by Zoe Ball, showrunner Steven Moffat has confirmed, writing in the latest edition of Doctor Who Magazine, that there will be a DOCTOR WHO series 9, to be aired in 2015.

More interestingly, he’s also clarified how this series will be structured. Talking about series 8, he said “We’re not going to do splits, and the same format will repeat exactly the following year like that. So it will be the traditional form.” He must be hoping that by giving us one long run and not one split in the middle like what we’ve got for the past few years, he might be able to win back some of those dropping ratings.

Series 8, which introduces Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor alongside Jenna Coleman’s Clara, began shooting this week and is expected to air in Autumn.
