For those of you who aren’t familiar with INSPECTOR SPACETIME, you’re either a) completely missing out on the joys of COMMUNITY, the funniest, most geek-friendly, pop culture savvy sitcom produced for years; or b) you’ve not seen season 3 yet.

If it’s b), then you’re forgiven. But if you answered ‘a’ – shame on you! You’re the reason COMMUNITY is heading towards cancellation! Sort it out! Ok, so we’re not really blaming you – the blame lies soley on the greedy, ratings-obsessed network – but seriously, do yourself a favour and check out the box sets, you won’t regret it.

Anyway, INSPECTOR SPACETIME – it’s an affectionate parody of DOCTOR WHO, a show within the show that first appeared in season 3 when movie/tv obsessed main character Abed was introduced to it as a way to placate his annoyance over his favourite series getting cancelled ahead of their time. And with close to 50 years of DOCTOR WH– sorry, INSPECTOR SPACETIME, to get through, it was soon his go-to show. Here’s a clip…

News via Vulture today reveals that Travis Richey, the actor who portrays Inspector Spacetime in the series, is looking to launch an actual six-episode web series, and is seeking investors/fans to help fund it.

Richey reveals this is entirely unofficial, and will be produced without the involvement of COMMUNITY creator Dan Harmon or its corporate owners Sony. So anyone troubled by ‘canon’ might want to look away now. That said, Harmon seems like a down-to-earth bloke, so we’re sure he wouldn’t mind.

You can check out Richey’s Kickstarter page HERE, where you can chuck him a couple of quid should this sound like something you’d like to see.

While we’re on the subject, what better time to share this beyond superb fan-created COMMUNITY poster that was doing the rounds a few months back…
