The fourth season of GAME OF THRONES is literally a matter of weeks away. Whilst there is a whole host of on-going material to pull from for plenty of future seasons, author George RR Martin has been discussing how it may be necessary to finish the series with a feature-length movie.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Martin said, “It at all depends on how long the main series runs. Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for ten? The books get bigger and bigger in scope. It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know.”

Even if the current series doesn’t culminate in a movie, Martin teased that there could be a movie to be made out of the prequel TALES OF DUNK AND EGG series. He added, “They could be the basis for a film. I have written these three stories, and I have about a dozen more.”

Before any of that, though, Season 4 of GAME OF THRONES debuts on 6th April in the US, with the UK getting the new season just a day later.
