ALMOST HUMAN, the sci-fi drama created by J.J. Abrams and starring Karl (DREDD, STAR TREK) Urban and Michael Ealy as a human cop and his combat android partner, has been cancelled by Fox after just one thirteen episode series. Its credentials alone made ALMOST HUMAN, which premiered in the States last November, a ‘one to watch’ show but following a strong debut rating of 9.1 million viewers, figures have fallen throughout the run with 5.6 million tuning in for March’s final episode.

The figures in themselves haven’t been disastrous but Fox has already-renewed a number of other popular dramas (BONES, THE FOLLOWING) and announced a number of new pilot episodes (such as the much-anticipated GOTHAM) so it appears that there simply wasn’t room in Fox’s upcoming schedule for another season of a show which hadn’t taken off as might have been expected. However, Starburst suspects there’ll be at least six new J.J. Abrams-produced TV series along before teatime.

UK viewers will finally get to see ALMOST HUMAN when it airs on Sky 1 from May 6th at 9pm.
