With Fox’s GOTHAM now moving forward, The CW’s THE FLASH is also shaping up rather nicely. With casting announcements having become a regular thing over the last few weeks, the show has now added John Wesley Shipp to its ranks. For those unaware, Shipp played Flash back in the live-action 1990s show (above). At present his role is unknown, although logical speculation is suggesting that he will be Barry Allen’s father and the more outlandish rumours go as far as claiming he’ll be playing the original Flash, Jay Garrick.

Shipp joins a cast that already includes Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/Flash, Rick Gosnett as Eddie Thawne/Professor Zoom, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, Candice Patton as Iris West and Jesse L. Martin as Detective West.

THE FLASH is currently being developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns, with the pilot expected to hit towards the middle of the year.
