After two seasons of guiding TNT’s FALLING SKIES, showrunner Remi Aubuchon has shocked fans by resigning before July’s third season premiere. What has prompted this sudden departure? Creative differences with the network and producers? Not at all. Aubuchon is leaving so he can devote his time to writing a science-fiction novel.

As Aubuchon explained, “This is a very difficult show to work on and the truth is I did feel burnt out after this season.”

FALLING SKIES executive producer and star Noah Wyle, who portrays resistance fighter Tom Mason,  praised Aubuchon by saying, “We created a really good season and Remi is directly responsible for it. So, I’m sorry to see him go.”

David Eick (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA / CAPRICA) is to replace Aubuchon from the fourth season onwards, which Wyle seems more than happy with.  “I have great confidence in David Eick coming on,” he said. “He’s coming with great passion and a lot of really great ideas. And the truth is this show has had a lot of fathers along the way already and maybe that’s just the nature of the beast.”

The third season is set seven months after the previous season, and will focus on Wyle’s Tom Mason – who is the Resistance’s new president – attempting to consolidate new alliances with the rebel Skitters and the newly arrived Volm.
