Though recent series of the Steven Moffat-led DOCTOR WHO have had many varied criticisms levelled at them, one of those criticisms is that there just hasn’t been enough of it. While 2011 saw one series split in half across the year, the following series was split across two years, leaving many fans feeling under-served.

That sparsity may soon be over, for Moffat has confirmed, at the recent BFI screening of Eleventh Doctor episodes, that series 8 will not be split, adding “I’ve got the whole in my head right now.” Though we’d rather the series be on our telly, or even in script form, this is good news indeed; not only will we be getting a whole 13 episode run in 2014, but also it’ll be during the autumn months, the perfect time for WHO – when the pesky sun isn’t glaring all over our TV screens come Saturday teatime.

Series 8, which will see Peter Capldi take over the TARDIS, will begin filming in the new year and is expected to run from August 2014. Before then, as I’m sure we all know, there’s a regeneration to go – Matt Smith will bow out this Christmas Day at 7:30PM – or, if you like, The Time of the Doctor.
