The BBC have confirmed that the eighth new season of Doctor Who, now starring Peter Capaldi as the twelfth regeneration of the formidable Time Lord, will begin on Saturday 23rd August on BBC1, at a time yet to be announced. The first episode is described as “feature-length” and will be entitled ‘Deep Breath’. Written by current show runner Steven Moffat, the episode sees the Doctor and Clara (Jenna Coleman) arriving back in Victorian times, where they’re reunited with the Paternoster Gang triumvirate of Silurian detective Vastra, her tame Sontaran butler Strax and her… ahem… assistant Jenny. A sparkling new publicity image of Capaldi and his co-star Jenna has been issued along with a brief new teaser trailer.
