Filming proceeds on new episodes of Doctor Who to be screened after the mid-series break following the transmission of episode five, ‘Angels in Manhattan’, in a month’s time. As usual, the show’s filming is shrouded in a MI5-like veil of secrecy but Starburst has learnt that the episode currently filming – and nothing further is known at the moment of the title, storyline or writer – features a guest-starring role for actor Ashley Walters.

30 year-old Walters first rose to prominence under the stage name ‘Asher D’ as part of the rap collective So Solid Crew, best known for their number one hit single ‘21 Seconds’ in 2001. A graduate of the Sylvia Young acting school, Ashley Walters attracted rave reviews for his role as Ricky in the 2004 feature film Bullet Boy. His TV credits include an episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles in 1992, Urban Gothic in 2000 and his regular role as newbie grifter Billy Bond in the fourth series of BBC TV’s Hustle in 2007. He also appeared as Jack Holt in the BBC’s ill-fated science-fiction drama Outcasts in 2011 and has guested in the first series of Bedlam, BBC crime drama Five Days, an episode of the improvised drama True Love (opposite Lacey Turner and Jamie Winstone) and recently in the ’House of Games’ episode of Sky One’s Sinbad.

Doctor Who continues its new series on BBC every Saturday until 29th September. Following the transmission of the traditional Christmas special, episodes currently being filmed will resume early in 2013.
