The BBC have today released some new promotional images from the next batch of Doctor Who episodes – effectively season 7(b) – due to commence later this month. The first episode, represented by the first image, is officially confirmed as entitled ‘The Bells Of St John’ written by current show runner Steven Moffat and is described as an ‘modern-day urban thriller’…  

The second newly-released image gives fans their first glimpse of the return of the Ice Warriors in the third episode of the new run, written by long-time series contributor Mark Gatiss. The Ice Warriors do not seem to have received the radical redesign which often befalls returning ‘classic’ monsters and the creatures appear largely unchanged from the design which debuted in the 1967 Patrick Troughton serial ‘The Ice Warriors.’ Writer Brian Hayles’ Martian creations appeared in several further serials but have not been seen on TV since ‘The Monster of Peladon’ in third Doctor Jon Pertwee’s final season 1974.

Doctor Who starring Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman returns to BBC1 and BBC America on 30^th March 2013.
