Continuing the promotional tradition established at the beginning of the current season seven last September, the BBC have released three dramatic new ‘film poster’ style images to publicise the forthcoming fifth, sixth and seventh episodes of the series which recommenced last month. Episode five, ‘Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS’ is written by Steve Thompson (Sherlock) and is due to be screened on Saturday 27th April, Mark Gatiss’ episode six, ‘The Crimson Horror’ features Dame Diana Rigg in a guest-starring role and reintroduces ‘popular’ supporting character Vastra and Strax, the comedy Silurian and Sontaran double act and will air on 4th May. Episode seven, Neil Gaiman’s eagerly-awaited reinterpretation of the redesigned Cybermen, ‘Nightmare in Silver’, which guests stars Jason (Being Human, Trollied) Watkins, Warwick (Life’s Too Short, Willow) Davis and Tamsin (Eastenders) Outthwaite, is expected to air on Saturday 11th May. Intriguingly, no image – or indeed much information at all – has yet been released in relation to Steven Moffat’s still-untitled episode eight, the season finale which is likely to see the reappearance of at least two familiar characters from the show’s long history.

Episode five of the second half of season seven, ‘Hide’, by Neil Cross, writer of the controversial recent story ‘Rings of Akhaten’, screens this Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC1 and later on BBC America. Doctor Who’s fiftieth anniversary episode is currently filming in South Wales and will be screened in November.
