It’s official, Netflix have found their Daredevil. Brit Charlie Cox, of slick gangster series Boardwalk Empire and fun fantasy romance Stardust, is set to don the horned cowl and super senses to take on New York’s hardest.

The casting, confirmed by Marvel Studios, is an interesting one, and Matt Murdock is a character that has been ignored on the big screen since Ben Affleck’s turn in the flawed but enjoyable eponymous 2003 film. News broke over the weekend that Daredevil’s original show runner, Drew Goddard, had stepped down, but he’s still writing the first two episodes of a planned 13, also filling in as executive producer and consultant. Steven S. DeKnight, a fellow Buffy/Angel acolyte, has taken over as showrunner.

Daredevil is the first of planned five series on digital streaming site Netflix, the others being Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Defenders (which unites all of the characters). One of the greatest attributes of the Marvel Studios universe is the interconnectivity, so this looks sent to be interesting viewing at the very least.

Marvel has released a short official description for series: ‘Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.’
