The ubiquitous David S. Goyer has added yet another comic book adaptation to his swelling slate (note to DC: other writers exist), with Warner Bros TV announcing they’re going to go ahead with a new version of CONSTANTINE, this time on the small screen (admittedly a more suitable home for the character).

Although it was initially first reported back in September, NBC have now officially greenlit the pilot from Goyer and co-writer Daniel Cerone (DEXTER), and should it prove popular with the execs we can expect to see it premiere in September.

John Constantine is just the latest in a long line of comic book characters preparing to make their TV debut/return, with PREACHER, GOTHAM and THE FLASH all in various stages of developments.

How this will affect Guillermo del Toro’s planned JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK movie, that included Constantine on the roster, remains to be seen. As does whether the show will form part of DC’s MAN OF STEEL universe. One thing we do know, this thing better improve on the character’s first screen appearance in 2005, or they’ll be hell to pay.

Stay tuned for more news soon…
