There’s been a glut of quality zombie-related entertainment since the undead renaissance of the early noughties. Indeed, horror seems to belong, tooth and claw, to walking corpses. And to add to that glut, it’s been announced that Harold Perrineau (LOST, THE MATRIX RELOADED/REVOLUTIONS), Tom Everett Scott (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS), DJ Qualls (SUPERNATURAL, THE CORE), Michael Welch (TWILIGHT) and Kellita Smith have all joined the cast for Syfy’s upcoming zombie ensemble drama Z NATION.

Z NATION, from production company The Asylum (of SHARKNADO infamy), follows Hammond, played by Perrineau, the leader of a west-bound group. Garnett, his second in command, will be played by Scott, with Qualls stepping into the shoes of computer hacker Citizen Z. Mark and Addy, played by Welch and Smith respectively, are a couple of wanderers determined to survive. Anastasia Baranova , Russell Hodgkinson, and Keith Allan complete the cast as Addy, Doc and Murphy.

Check out the official premise: ‘In Z NATION, three years have passed since the zombie virus has gutted the country, and a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. Although the antibodies he carries are the world’s last, best hope for a vaccine, he hides a dark secret that threatens them all. With humankind’s survival at stake, the ragtag band embarks on a journey of survival across three thousand miles of rusted-out post-apocalyptic America.’
