Will Mr Freeze chill the blood of GOTHAM’s audience? Danny Cannon is certainly hoping so as he’s told HitFix that he would like the villain to appear in the Batman prequel series.

Producer Cannon, who has also directed the pilot, is in the process of trying to convince GOTHAM creator Bruno Heller, and DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns, that including Mr Freeze in the villains roster is a good idea.

“I have a big pitch with Bruno about the Mr Freeze character, whose origins are uncertain,” says Cannon. “If I can win Geoff Johns over and if I can win Bruno over, then I look forward to the moment where that character can be realised.”

It has already been confirmed that several Batman villains, such as the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Catwoman (Camren Bicondova), the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Poison Ivy (Clare Foley), are set to menace the good citizens of Gotham.

Eventually the Dark Knight’s principal nemesis himself, the Joker, will trouble the Gotham Police Department and a young James Gordon as Heller has previously revealed: “He’s the crown jewel of the Batman villains. He will be brought in with great care and a lot of thought.”

So with the Penguin, Catwoman, the Riddler, Poison Ivy and the Joker appearing at some point in the series why shouldn’t Mr Freeze pop up? Why not the Scarecrow, the Mad Hatter, the Clock King or the numerous other Batman foes for that matter. More to the point… Do you really care? Does anybody really care?

GOTHAM will launch on Fox Monday nights this autumn. The series has yet to be acquired by a UK broadcaster. Hmmm…
