Whilst it’s all pretty exciting to know that Barry Allen, aka The Flash, will be a part of the upcoming Season 2 of The CW’s ARROW, the role has yet to be cast. With the character also confirmed as getting his own spin-off series in the future, the powers that be have to make a long-term, sensible choice. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg seemed to indicate that a casting announcement could be just around the corner.

In terms of casting for Barry Allen, he said, “We’ll have to have somebody by September 30th, which is when we start shooting his first episode. So there is that timeline. But it’s been a really exciting process just getting to meet so many fantastic actors and seeing the enthusiasm that so many people around town have for the character. It’s just amazing – I have pictures of myself at age 4 holding a Flash and a Superman doll. That I’m sitting here writing the Flash and Green Arrow now, it’s more than my little nerd heart can bear sometimes.”

The Barry Allen character is set to debut in the eight episode of the upcoming season, and, with that episode to commence filming at the end of the month, The CW had better get their skates on. Currently, Barry Allen is set to appear in three episodes of Season 2, although that could change.

As well as The Flash, the upcoming season is set to introduce new characters in the form of Michael Jai White’s Bronze Tiger, Caity Lotz’s Black Canary, Kevin Alejandro’s Sebastian Blood, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin, and the as-yet-not-cast character of Amanda Waller.

Season 2 of ARROW premieres on Wednesday, 9th October, with a UK airing expected to follow shortly after that date. Check out the latest teaser trailer now:
