With The CW’s ARROW achieving strong ratings and reviews, the show is already confirmed to return for a second season. So far, in the first season we’ve seen familiar DC names such as Deadshot, Roy Harper, China White, Deathstroke the Terminator, China White, the Huntress and Count Vertigo appear. Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim has recently spoken to TV Guide and suggested that we may see Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern show up at some point.
Guggenheim said, “If all goes according to plan, when you see the Ferris Air logo later in the season, it will be the same logo that we established in the movie. I like tips of that hat.”
When asked whether Ryan Reynolds or Blake Lively, Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris in Green Lantern, respectively, could possibly make guest appearances, Guggenheim said, “I would never say never. It’s certainly something that we’ve talked about.”
He then added, “As well all DC characters, we have to figure out a way for those characters to fit within our Arrow universe. But when you consider the importance that Hal Jordan plays in the Green Arrow comics, it’s certainly one of those names that we’ve discussed a great deal. I have Ryan Reynolds’ phone number around here somewhere.”
Guggenheim has previously gone on record to say that the show will feature ‘no super powers’; something that will obviously have to go out the window if Green Lantern is to appear. The characters of Green Lantern and Green Arrow have had several joint-titles, team-ups and crossovers over the years, as both friends and foes. Both have also been members of the Justice League, possibly opening up those possibilities somewhere down the line.
