Back in November we reported that a remake of The Tomorrow People was in the works. January saw the pilot greenlit, and today comes news that castings have officially begun.

This may be a spoiler for Home and Away fans, so look away now if you’ve got a penchant for soaps… The CW have gone with the trend of casting one of the legions of Aussie hotties relocating to the USA trying to make it big. 27 year old Luke Mitchell (Home and Away) has been cast as “dark, handsome and cool under pressure” John Young, a key role with teleportation powers who will help enlist other people with powers to join the team.

Confirmed earlier today by the actor himself on twitter: “Ok it’s official… I’ve been cast in a U.S TV pilot called #TheTomorrowPeople, that shoots in NYC! Very excited!”

Luke Mitchell has been a Home and Away fan favourite since 2009 as hunky surfer Romeo Smith. He hasn’t yet left UK screens, but filmed his last scenes back in November, then swiftly landed The Tomorrow People job in less than 3 weeks of being in the States.

My prediction: If I know The CW, John Young’s teleportation powers will be localised and he will soon be teleporting just his top away to reveal that body!
